Junk DNA can trigger drug addiction

The human body is designed in such a way that some substances can cause a strong addiction. And, in addition to the data studied on the effect of psychostimulants on various neurotransmitters and departments of our central nervous system, according to experts from Oxford University and the University of Athens, our DNA may be guilty of the mechanisms of dependence formation. Moreover, it is precisely that part of it that, as previously thought, has little effect on human development. Namely, the so-called “junk” DNA and its part, which a person inherited from millions of years ago from ancient viruses.

What part of our brain is responsible for making up stories?

Despite pretty good information about the functioning of the central nervous system and the knowledge about many physiological processes, data on how and where exactly the formation of certain functions occurs is still unclear. But now, thanks to the efforts of neurophysiologists from McMaster University (Canada), one “white spot” in our central nervous system has become smaller due to the identification of brain regions that are responsible for inventing stories.

The orbiting Martian probe took a picture of the silent Opportunity rover

Interplanetary autonomous space station Mars Reconnaissance Orbiter (MRO) of NASA aerospace agency took a photo of a lone rover Opportunity, which has not been in contact for more than two months. Recall that the rover was silent due to the global Martian dust storm that covered the entire planet back in June this year. A rover operating on the basis of solar batteries could not receive enough solar energy to power the electronics and therefore entered hibernation mode. The Agency still can not establish a relationship with him, although the Martian storm has long ended.
